GUNS N' ROSES Forced To Cancel WELCOME TO ROCKVILLE Performance Due To Inclement Weather

May 22, 2022

GUNS N' ROSES was forced to cancel its headlining appearance Saturday night (May 21) at Welcome To Rockville after inclement weather once again forced the music festival to shut down early.

Several other artists, including Jerry Cantrell and SHINEDOWN, only managed to play abbreviated sets at the event, which is being held at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida.

A little before 10:00 p.m., roughly 30 minutes before GUNS N' ROSES was scheduled to take the stage, concert promoter Danny Wimmer Presents released a statement to fans on social media, saying: "Unfortunately there is another storm headed our way so we regretfully will be cancelling the rest of the show tonight. We are as heartbroken as you are that today's inclement weather has disrupted our plans, but ultimately the safety of our fans, artists, staff and vendors are of the upmost importance. Please make your way to your vehicle or campground calmly. Thank you and see you tomorrow."

GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash later issued a statement expressing his frustration over the cancelation.

"Tonight's cancelation at Welcome to Rockville was a massive disappointment," he wrote. "We were really looking forward to the show. But the weather had other ideas. We sympathize with all you guys who got rained out along with us, it fucking sucks. Another time, sooner than later! Iiii]; )'"

KORN, BREAKING BENJAMIN and SKILLET are among the bands who were forced to cancel their performances Friday night at Welcome To Rockville because of thunderstorms.

Earlier Friday evening, it was announced that MEGADETH would not make its scheduled performance because of "travel delays."

Welcome To Rockville opened on Thursday and was scheduled to feature appearances by nearly 90 acts over four days through Sunday (May 22).

KISS headlined the event on Thursday, with NINE INCH NAILS scheduled to close the show on Sunday.

40,000 fans daily were expected to attend the festival, according to the promoter.

Many fans who purchased tickets for Friday's and Saturday's performances were understandably upset about the cancelations, with some asking for a refund. However, as per the Welcome To Rockville web site, "No refunds or exchanges will be given as a result of weather conditions; and no refunds or exchanges will be given for inclement or severe weather that necessitates an evacuation, delay or cancellation in part or whole of the event."

Sunday's forecast for Daytona Beach calls for a 60% chance of rain throughout the day and evening, according to the National Weather Service. Showers and thunderstorms are still likely, however, with the potential for rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one quarter of an inch.

Welcome To Rockville was a popular outdoor concert festival fixture in Jacksonville for nearly a decade before being moved to Daytona Beach. Its May 2020 debut in its new location was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic before it returned for its 10th edition last November at its new home.

Thank you for your patience, here are your updated set times for tonight! 🤘

UPDATE: JERRY CANTRELL IS 6:15-7:00...
